In recent weeks, I have been pondering a couple of ministry opportunities for us at Faith UMC. I have talked to some of you about them, but I’d like some more input. What do you think about establishing a Visitation Ministry and Communion Delivery Ministry? Perhaps they can be one in the same.
As we all know, there are members of our congregation who are unable to attend corporate worship. Delivering Holy Communion to them, if they desire it, on the day(s) following our celebration of Holy Communion, is a way to extend the physical blessing of Christ to these members of Christ’s body. Likewise, simply visiting people is another way to extend Christ’s love to others. What do you think? Are you interested? Could you do it if you went in pairs, and with God’s help? Is God calling you to such a ministry?
Please, contact Pastor Matthew with your thoughts, ideas, and/or concerns. And please, consider this, and all other things prayerfully, seeking to know where God can use you.
The CROP Walk – an annual, ecumenical mission project for world hunger – will be held on Sunday, October 5th in Grand Island. For general information, see their website, or call Pastor Matthew. Rev. Scott Taylor of First Christian Church, Grand Island is organizing information for the event this year. And our brothers and sisters at Trinity UMC are trying to find someone to organize a group from their congregation. Is God calling you to walk and raise money for the hungry in this way? Is God calling you to be a contact person from Faith UMC?
