New Site - Hopefully

For those few of you reading this, I've been working on designing and launching a new website for the church I'm serving - Faith United Methodist Church.

For the time being, this is the url: http://web.me.com/fowlers2005/GI_Faith/Home.html.  You'll obviously note that the page is under construction.  But, you'll also notice on the far right of the navigation bar that there is a tab labeled "Pastor Matthew's Blog."  That should be self-explanatory.

In this fast-paced world, it seems especially important for a church website to be a single place where people can go to learn about our church, to see her activities, and see what people of the church are saying.  The days of Blogspot may not be over, but they might serve a different purpose.  We'll see.

P.S. I hope, in the near future, to be changing the url of the aforementioned website to something a little shorter and catchier.  I'll let you know.  Peace.

Preaching

The Reverend Doug Griger is conducting the following survey of preaching as part of his Doctor of Ministry program. I'll continue to think about these questions myself, but it could be interesting for all of us to do some thinking and praying about the ministry of preaching.

Here's the Reverend Griger's advertisement:

Blah...blah...blah....
Yadda...yadda....yadda...
What is the point of a sermon?
What do we hope to get from a sermon?
What do we actually get from a sermon?
Why do preachers preach?
Clergy and laity are invited to take part in this
important project. This survey is part of a doctoral
program for a clergy member of the Nebraska
Conference. Results will be shared through the
conference communications department. Please go
the link below and complete the survey.
