United Methodist Hispanic Ministries

Greetings from Kansas, the Spanish Boot Camp Center of the Midwest!
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS WARMING OUR HEARTS!
We are emboldened to act in obedience – believing there is SOMETHING MORE…

On August 24-26, in Wichita, KS the first ever –
“HISPANIC-SPICED AND UNITED METHODIST
PASSIONED BOOT CAMP FOR NEW CHURCH
PLANTERS” was celebrated by 32 participants, from 7
different UM conferences.  Facilitators Leo and Carmen
Rodríguez, from the “Griffith Coaching Network” led the group
in 11 dynamic, interactive sessions teaching essential
principles for new church starts in the United Methodist
context of Hispanic Ministry.

A powerful Spirit of hope and enthusiasm was present among the
group as they envisioned the future of their respective ministries.  A
number of inspirational testimonies were received from persons who
have experienced success in church planting.  Some common
messages from God that “rang out” to the group were; 1) “a great
sacrifice will be required of you in order to see this vision fulfilled”,
2) “do not think you have arrived – there is much to learn and do”,
3) “you are not alone in your work”.

The conferences of;  Nebraska, Kansas East and Kansas West
served as hosts in this historical event, and were joined by
participants from the Rocky Mountain, Northwest Texas, Texas and
Florida Conferences. Indeed a special bond and sense of team-work
was formed among all participants which crossed conference
boundaries. They emphatically demonstrated the importance of any
work in Hispanic Ministry that conferences employ in the future,
being done in collaboration with one another.  Together, facilitators
and participants discovered a greater sense of purpose and calling
for their work of;  establishing new Hispanic/Latino congregations
and re-evangelizing our nation for Christ.

A special thanks to Senior Pastor Jeff Gannon and staff at Chapel Hill UMC!  Not only did they
go above and beyond with radical hospitality, they did so from a common passion to plant new
churches that reflect the diverse communities they exist to serve!

¡Bendiciones de Cristo!
         -- Blessings of Christ!

Ecclesiastes 4:9  (The Message)
“It's better to have a partner than go it alone.
Share the work, share the wealth.
And if one falls down, the other helps,
But if there's no one to help, tough!”
